Weekend Highlights : EPL Round-Up

Well the weekend football is almost done and what a great weekend of football it was, with man utd vs tottenham this was expected to be the game of the week and with cristiano ronaldo in top form maybe we would see another piece of genious from him. Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan had his 112th Tyne/Tee Derby and he was looking for his first win (and goal) in his second reign as Newcastle Utd manager.

Liverpool were looking to get back to winning ways against Roy Keanes Sunderland, Chelsea kick off against Portsmouth both teams were looking to show off their new aquisitions, and both scored in this lively encouter which saw Chelsea fall back even further behind Man Utd and Arsenal. Blackburn took on Everton these two teams will be battling it out for a European place and it was a great game (you can watch the highlights here). League “Losers” Derby travelled to Birmingham to see if they could salvage their campaign and grab a point or three against struggling Birmingham.

And finally Arsenal stayed top of the league by seeing off Man City 3-1

Midweek Football Round-up

Well it is now February and the transfer window is closed, hopefully all the teams have bought the players that will help them make a push in the last part of the season, i guess the biggest transfer news was Jarmaine Defoe moving to portsmouth, Benjani was meant to move to Man City but the transfer was not submitted in time… Which leave Portsmouth with unbalanced books but it does bolster their attacking options, i dont think Harry Redknapp will be unhappy at having Defoe & Benjani upfront…..

Anyway onto the midweek games, there was quite a few games and the highlight of them all was the Manchester United game with Cristiano Ronaldo shining once again with a marvelous free kick, the press has been singing his praises all week, and so they should be with 29 goals in 27 games this is almost unheard of for a winger….. you can see the Ronaldo Free Kick here
